A truck driver who has been disqualified from driving for six-months after he was found guilty of driving under the influence of methylamphetamine, said he was “trying to keep up with the young boys”.
Paolo Gemignani pleaded guilty in Northam Magistrates court on Monday after he was subject to an oral drug test conducted by police at The Lakes on February 7.
Gemignani said he thought the drug was out of his system as he had taken methylamphetamine at a party a few days earlier.
Magistrate Jennifer Hawkins warned Gemignani that dabbling in meth could have very serious and dangerous consequences.
Gemignani was fined $500 and has had his drivers license suspended for six-months.
