Saturday marked the one-hundredth anniversary of the Merredin Show.
The show has undergone many changes since its inception as an agricultural show and has turned into a family entertainment event with rides, show bags, food and animals.
Kicking off with a float parade, the 2018 Merredin Show had a long list of entertainment including Scitech, the Ice Man, the Merredin College Choir and St Mary’s Choir, ASP Moto-X and the Progressive Axeman’s Association of WA.
A memorabilia display was set up on site by Erica Carlson and Rae Manning, taking show-goers on a journey back in time, giving a timeline of the Merredin Show’s development over the last 100 years.
The first Merredin Show held on September 21 1918, at the Ratepayer’s Hall.
Those visiting the show also got to get up close and personal with some special friends from West Aussie Reptiles and WA Birds of Prey.
And for those who were a little less adventurous there was a petting farm with alpacas, dogs, chickens and a turkey.
Sideshow Alley was a hit for kids big and small with games for everyone.
Merredin Show Chairperson Martin Morris said the support the show has received is the reason it has hit the 100 year milestone.
“ To all exhibitors, entertainers, thank you so much for supporting the Merredin Show,” Mr Morris said.
“It’s an obvious statement, but without you there would be no show.
“Lastly, and by no means least, thanks to the public.
“The level at which you support the Merredin Show is fantastic.
You are the reason all the hard work is put in and you make all the effort worth while.”
The Merredin Show was concluded with its annual fireworks show.
