Bushfire advice has been given by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services for West Toodyay and Coondle in the Shire of Toodyay.
Firefighters are working on a blaze that started near the intersection of Coondle West Road and Red Gum Circle in Coondle.
Currently there is threat to lives or homes but DFES said there is a lot of smoke in the area.
The bushfire is currently moving slowly in a southerly direction and is contained and under control.
10 Bush Fire Service firefighters are attending the blaze and firefighters are patrolling the area and mopping up.
Motorists have been advised that some roads may be closed due to the fire and 40 kilometre per hour speed restrictions are in place on Coondle West Road.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke and emergency services personnel working in the area.
The fire was reported to services just before 3.30am on Wednesday March 14 and currently one hectare of land has been burnt.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
