A Toodyay man has had his licence disqualified for two and a half years after he was caught with a “very high reading” of blood alcohol content.
Peter Jozef Wlazlowski pleaded guilty to the charge of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol in Northam Magistrates Court on Monday.
Wlazlowski came to attention of police on February 5 after he rear ended a caravan as it slowed down to turn on Julimar Road in Toodyay.
Following the incident, he was caught with a blood alcohol reading of 0.172.
In court, Magistrate Jennifer Hawkins questioned Wlazlowski on his poor judgement.
“What on earth were you doing on the road?” Magistrate Hawkins asked.
“If you drink and drive you can cause serious issues.
“This is a very, very high reading.”
Wlazlowski told Ms Hawkins he was having a bad day and was trying to get into rehabilitation for his alcohol addiction.
He said he was very remorseful for being on the road.
Wlazlowski was handed 20 hours of community work and was disqualified from driving for 30 months.
Magistrate Hawkins warned Wlazlowski if he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol again he would be banned from driving for life.
