Students from Northam Primary School are being encouraged to practice healthy dental hygiene, with the help of Northam Dental Therapy.
On the 13th February, the Northam Dental Therapy and Northam Primary School held a community involvement event the school for Year 1 and 2 students.
The event, planned by Area Dental Officer Macy Phung and Northam Primary School Physical Education Specialist Mike McGeevey, was held to promote healthy living with an emphasis on dental hygiene and healthy eating.
Students had six stations of activities including a dental based theme with tooth brushing demonstrations and colouring in pictures, as well as five physical activities.
Students were split into groups of 12 and played games such as sack races and egg and spoon races.
Approximately 80 children, along with parents and school staff joined in on the activities.
Teachers and parents were given the opportunity to discuss dental health with lots of educational material on hand.
At the end of the morning each child received a pack including toothbrush, toothpaste, stickers and colouring in pictures.
