The Avon Valley Arts Society Inc (AVAS) held its first function for the year with an evening soiree for all members, sponsors and Shire representatives on Friday February 9.
The new committee was able to meet and chat to those in attendance with some positive comments and new ideas being discussed for the year ahead.
The Shire of Northam, as a major supporter was represented by Shire President, Chris Antonio and Executive Manager Community Services, Ross Rayson.
This year, due to time constraints, the Fred Killick Memorial Art Prize awarded to Avon Valley Arts Society members only, will be run in conjunction with Northam Art Prize.
The date is yet to be confirmed and the Avon Valley Arts Society hope to have record entries.
The group said there are many ideas for exciting new projects for 2018.
Previously AVAS has held annual events including the Northam Art Prize, the Festival of Arts Eisteddfod and Youth Arts Week.
