We would like to introduce you to the new team at the Avon Valley and Wheatbelt Advocate, journalist Eliza Wynn and sales consultant Cheryl Wood.
Eliza joined the new team at the paper in December last year after landing the position just weeks after finishing her degree.
She has already hit the ground running, meeting people and working the phones to build up her list of contacts.
She is looking forward to becoming part of the local community and telling the stories of those who don’t get a voice in the mainstream media.
The Curtin University graduate has gained plenty of experience working in print, radio and broadcast organisations in Perth that have helped prepare her for this posting.
Cheryl Wood started in October last year and has extensive newspaper sales experience having worked in print media since 1999.
She moved to Bakers Hill for a tree change from the city nine years ago with the aim of retiring in the country down the track.
Cheryl said she appreciated working closer to home.
Eliza and Cheryl hit it off from day one, discovering their birthday’s are a day apart.
With two extroverted Aquarian’s in the office there is never a dull moment.
The pair join Imogene Weatherly who has been a sales representative with the paper for 10 months.
She knows all things Northam, with her family living in the town for 40 years.
The new team work together on all areas of the paper, realising that the paper requires all hands on deck.
Between the three them, they produce news and help local businesses grow through their advertising services.
The team hope that with their combined skills they are able to continue to grow the paper and help inform readers of the happenings of the area.
