The Volunteering WA Wheatbelt hub hosted a morning-tea to celebrate International Volunteer Day on December 5, 2017.
The event was held in the Village Green from 10am to 2pm and showcased the the incredible work volunteer-involving organisations do in the Wheatbelt region and provided people with an opportunity to learn more about volunteering in their local area.
Wheatbelt Volunteer Hub coordinator Tanya Richardson said the day was special for the region.
‘It was a fantastic day and it was wonderful to meet so many volunteers that give so willingly to make our region such a great place to live in,” she said.
“It was also an opportunity for volunteer organisations to showcase the work they do and what volunteer help they need.”
The generosity of Northam businesses saw donations of nearly $2000 worth of prizes and giveaways for the volunteers.
The event was made possible from funding provided by Shire of Northam.
In WA alone, there's over 600,000 volunteers giving their time to hundreds of organisations ranging from aged care to wildlife sanctuaries to volunteering at events.
