A memorial service was held on Sunday in Mokine for the community to pay their respects to four army officers that died in a plane crash in the area on October 19, 1942.
Each year in October the Northam RSL branch holds the remembrance service to pay respect to the fallen officers that are Lynton Vennel Howard Birt, Noel louis Nixon, Kenneth Colin Hugo and Geoffrey Lancaster Debenham.
Officers from the Royal Australian Air Force Association attended the memorial service to lay a wreath, along with Shire of Northam chief executive officer Jason Whiteaker, shire president Steven Pollard and RSL WA representatives.
The Northam RSL branch held a lunch following the service at the Northam Memorial Hall.
