Avon Youth Community & Family Services was behind Northam’s Big Week Out, highlighting local specialist services available for the local homeless community.
During Homelessness Prevention Week, August 7-13, more than 200 community members attended Avon Youth to receive charitable goods such as clothing, jumpers, hoodies, pants, shoes, hand sanitiser and washing powder.
Avon Youth’s commercial kitchen was working overtime with hot meals prepared every day by the staff.
The soup kitchen is open every Monday at the St Joseph’s Parish.
At the end of the week Avon Youth hosted a long table luncheon for more than 20 emergency relief clients.
Most of the goods were donated by local businesses who also supported daily raffles, with the Grand Mega Raffle going to a deserving young family.
