SATURDAY, September 9 saw Season 2017 of the Northam Netball Association come to an end when the Avon Valley Nissan Grand Finals for all divisions were played at the Northam Recreation Centre. Games were played on the indoor courts, all teams having a loud spectator base in attendance, helping to build the atmosphere. The day commenced with the Junior 1 and 3 Divisions, followed by Senior 2 and Junior 2. Life Members, Sponsors and Special Guests attended a short afternoon tea right before the Senior 1 and Senior 3 Finals. The crowd was entertained at half time by the NetSetGO skills participants, who are aged five to seven years, with their wonderful NetSetGo Dance. The kids rose to the occasion and it was truly, a highlight of the day. Formalities of the day were completed with the 2017 Presentations. Awards included the usual Team, Fairest and Best and Association Championships, with recognition of our Green Shirt Umpiring Program, and ‘C’ Badge Accredited umpires for the year. A new initiative of the Committee for 2017, was to award three new scholarships, the Inaugural Jan Ireland Umpiring Scholarship, Adele Simmons Coaching Scholarship and the Jennifer Jones Players Scholarship. NNA would like to thank their 2017 Sponsors Avon Valley Nissan, Mitre 10 Northam, Subway Northam and Northam Tavern.
