Welcome to all Federal Football Club supporters and sponsors as we journeyed to Tammin oval last Sunday for our clash against the Kella / Tammin Football Club, who currently sit on top of the premiership ladder in both league and reserve grades.

After having the bye and giving players the opportunity to recharge, both grades were keen to keep their win/loss ratio intact and this would only be achieved by a committed effort from each and every team member.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the club to wish all the mums out there a belated happy Mother`s Day for last Sunday.

The netball girls had a hard fought win defeating Kella / Tammin by 10 goals and keeping them in fourth spot with a game in hand.

Excellent work girls.

The reserves match was a hard fought encounter as expected with both sides endeavoring to gain the upper hand and show their credentials and set the bench mark for this year’s competition.

Both teams were trying hard to take advantage with the use of the breeze and it was Federals who gained the upper hand to lead by a couple of goals at three-quarter time.

The last quarter was a thriller with players on both sides giving their all to manufacture a win for their respective sides.

As all players started to feel the effects of their hard work it was Federals who managed to hang on and run out eventual winners 7.7 (49) to Kella / Tammin 6.6 (42), a margin of only seven points.

The league encounter was going to be a torrid affair with both sides blessed with an abundance of talented players and it was anticipated that this game would be the match of the round and it did not disappoint the crowd or our Triple M 864am Radio West listeners.

At the half-time break Federals held a slender lead of five points and the game was set up for a thrilling finish as both team coaches worked their team boards hoping to find the winning combination.

In the third quarter Federals did not take advantage of the breeze and found themselves with a slender lead allowing their opponents to take the box seat for the final stanza.

With all in front of them and Federals unable to sustain the applied pressure Kella / Tammin ran out eventual winners by 21 points.

Final score: Kella / Tammin 15.13 (103) to Federals 12.10 (82).
