There was a buzz around the clubhouse, ladies arriving early with plenty of chatter & catching up after seven months off.
Welcome to new member Leila Roberts (daughter of long time member Mike Keefe).
The start of the 2017 ladies golf seasons proved challenging with warm windy conditions, however the day proved entertaining for the 16 starters.
Grace Snooke 2016 ladies champion had the honour of the first drive of the season.
The first event this season was an Ambrose Four Ball Better Ball with the winners of the day Dot Glass & Leila Roberts coming in with a score of 26 & 3/4 points.
Runners up on a count back were Joy Buckless & Sally Naughton with a score of 27 & 1/4 points.
Novelties for the day:
- Best second shot on No.2 Grace Snooke.
- Nearest the pin on No.6 Joy Buckless.
- Longest putt on No.7 Dot Glass.

Next Tuesday being Anzac Day the club is holding an Anzac Day Mixed Pairs Combined Stableford – 4BBB – Club & Visitors Trophy.
So find yourself a partner, place your name down on the board and we will find one for you or ring the Northam Country Club for more information.
Tee off will be 12.30 with rolling start.
Look out for a new event coming soon - We are encouraging families who play together to stay together from 4:30pm – 6.00 pm.
There will be My Golf for the kids, Swing Fit for the ladies with a rolling start and enjoy a relaxed and fun filled sundowner with the club.
Swing Fit commences on May 5, with an information night on April 28 at 5pm.
There are only ten places available so The Northam Country Club is encouraging interested people to register as soon as possible.
The classes will run for eight weeks in total and are aimed at being a lighthearted way for women to exercise, meet new people and learn basic golfing skills.
My Golf will be similarly running for eight weeks and a parent information night will run the same time as the Swing Fit information night.
To register or for more information, contact Matt Woods on 0400 222 671 or go to the My Golf website.
It provides a great opportunity to stay on at the Country Club & bring the family up for the Friday night meals and to socialise afterwards.
