After the recent flooding the Running Club finally got to hold their Mill Run along the river heading out to Burlong. With the recent rains it meant there was lots of cowthrop that needed to be negotiated in order to get to the start line, with Avon Bridge being closed. The field was a mixture of the walking wounded and young up and comers.
The five-kilometre had the best field with nine starters and saw Michael Dymnicki inch his way to the finish with a torn calf to claim first place in 19.23. This beat last year’s inaugural record by Bailey Donegan to set a new mark. Second went to Troy Robertson who was also working with a stubborn calf to finish with 22.18. The battle for third was between Mareesa Robertson and the Willmott boys, Brett and Lachie. Mareesa toughing it out to finish in 26.03.
The 2.5km saw Bailey Donegan claim first place in 12.34. Michelle Donegan was a bit off the pace, purely to keep the peace for the trip home, running in second with a time of 14.24. Young Antoinette Matres was third with a time of 14.52.
The next run will be at Bert Hawke this Thursday at 5.30pm for either a 5km or 2.5km. All runners and walkers welcome.
