The long awaited Northam Dome Cafe project has been the talk of the region since Dome Cafe Group managing director Nigel Oakey bought the site in 2015.
The Avon Valley and Wheatbelt Advocate can reveal the construction and restoration of the old Shamrock Hotel will be complete to hand over to Dome staff in mid-September 2019.
During a tour of the facilities on Thursday afternoon, Shire of Northam staff, councillors and the Avon Valley and Wheatbelt Advocate were given an inside look of the project.
The cafe will feature a hotel on the upstairs level with 16 rooms, including one family suite.
A wine bar, meeting rooms and alfresco dining is also included in the plans.
The heritage listed building, constructed in 1861, will be restored to its former glory with original cornice mold being used throughout, and original doors, windows and flooring being restored.
Upon opening, the site will be known as the Farmer's Home Hotel.
