Kim Johnson seems to have found the perfect job for him.
The new Northam swimming pool manager said he was looking for a change of scene from running his aquatic service company Commercial Pools and a job he could work about seven months a year and have the rest of the year off.
Mr Johnson said the pool is a vital community asset.
“I believe any swimming pool in a rural setting is very important,” he said.
“It’s very beneficial for people of any age. For the development of children, for rehabilitation, medical conditions and for the elderly.”
Mr Johnson said he has a simple philosophy the pool staff follow.
“Clean, safe, fun,” he said.
“As long as we can cover those three words we’re set for the whole summer.
“Some things we can’t control like the temperature of the pool.
“But we can control the clarity, cleanliness and feel.”
He said a lifeguard is always on duty who are all trained in first aid.
The pool is now open from 9am-6pm weekdays and 12-6pm weekends.
