Northam police have said the victim was a 16-year-old boy from York.
He has received serious injuries and is being treated at Royal Perth Hospital.
A spokesperson from the hospital said the boy is in the intensive care unit and is in critical condition.

Emergency services have responded to an incident near the Forrest Street Bridge in Northam this afternoon where it is understood a child was hit by a vehicle.
It is believed the incident happened about 2.45pm when a boy crossed the road at the Forrest Street and Broome Terrace intersection.
The boy was transferred to hospital and the extent of his injuries are unknown.
The 45-year-old male driver of the Holden Commodore was visibly distressed after the incident.
Police are still on the scene investigating.
