A man appeared in the Northam Magistrates Court on Monday after allegedly smashing the front glass door of the Northam police station while carrying a 60 centimetre metal chain and stomping on a vintage bicycle.
Jonathon Michael Hill pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage or destruction of property and carrying an article with intent to cause fear to someone.
Prosecuting sergeant Maria McComish told the court Hill was found with a metal chain on him that he said he kept for protection, on August 8, 2017 inside Shell Station.
Sgt McComish said Hill was riding a stolen bike down Fitzgerald Street and was approached by the owner, which resulted in a physical fight outside the Commercial Hotel on August 26.
The station was not open and he allegedly became upset and kicked the glass door, causing it to crack.
Hill allegedly jumped on the vintage motorised bike and damaged the spokes.
The following day, on August 27, Hill went to the Northam police station to collect his backpack at about 6.30pm.
The station was not open and he allegedly became upset and kicked the glass door, causing it to crack. He was chased and caught by police.
Hill said he had attended regular counselling sessions at Headspace and had recently completed 50 hours of community work on a community based order.
In court, he expressed an interest in attending the specialist methamphetamine Holyoake clinic in Northam.
Hill was sentenced to a six month community based order, charged a $400 global fine, $100 for damage costs and $198.50 court costs.
