Northam Fire Station volunteers and members from the community gathered on Tuesday, October 11, to welcome a Canadian firefighter to Australia, who left the following day to travel 4,000 kilometres for charity.
Cancer survivor Rudy Pospisil is cycling across Australia to raise funds for the Peter Mac Foundation, for cancer research.
Rudy said he wants to share his story around the globe and raise money to fight the disease that almost claimed his life.

Northam Volunteer Fire and Rescue Captain Scott Horlin said Rudy’s story was inspiring and motivating.
“Cancer is such a prevalent part of our society that touches almost every street, if not every house across Australia and Rudy’s amazing personal challenge was something we wanted to get behind,” Mr Horlin said.
Firefighters from Wundowie, York and Toodyay attended the launch and helped raise $500 for Rudy.
Arc Infrastructure also donated a $500 cheque on the night.
