St Joseph’s primary school students learnt new skills at their Indonesian Cultural Day.

The students were treated to a visit from Indonesian Consulate General officers Sofari Hidayat and Widya Sinedu who visited the school from Perth to take part in the day.

The Indonesian Cultural Day was organised by Bahasa language teacher David Slevam where students were shown traditional dances, music and clothing.

Nona Lawoliyo showed the students the dance Lengang nyai, before selecting a group of students to teach them another Indonesia dance giring giring.

Another group of students were selected to learn how to play Indonesian instruments including an angklung which is made from bamboo and learnt an Indonesian song.

The visit was concluded with the presentation of a book titled,  A Journey to Komodo from Widya Sinedu to St Joseph’s school principal Carmen Cox to keep in the school library.
