Three people are in hospital with stab wounds after a series of home invasions and carjackings in Perth's southern suburbs.
Nine News Perth says police are hunting for one man over the series of violent attacks in Champion Lakes near Armadale.
Reporter Alice Pooley said the man smashed his way into two homes and carjacked two drivers at knife-point.
A resident said he was at his letterbox when he was threatened by the man with a 10-centimetre knife and was almost stabbed.
"He shoved it to me and came at me two times," he said.
Witnesses said the first home invasion happened about 12 noon on Barrington Avenue, where a mother was stabbed inside her home. He threatened other members of the family before stealing handbags and fleeing on foot.
He then tried to carjack a driver at knifepoint but failed, before stabbing an elderly woman inside a home on Strathclyde Circuit.
The family told Ms Pooley they were terrified when they heard the man forcing his way through the front door.
"Once he was inside they could only watch on as their family friend was stabbed in front of their grandchildren," she said.
The elderly woman's silver Mercedes four-wheel-drive was then stolen and slammed into a fence.
Police believe the man also stabbed a man on Tonkin Highway and dragged him from his car before setting upon Champion Lakes.
Police are still hunting for the man, who is believed to be still in the Mercedes.
The man, who is considered extremely violent and dangerous, is being described as being in his mid-twenties, clean-shaven, of medium build with dark skin.
