MEN’S GOLF
LAST weekend’s event was the final round of the Club Championships and the monthly mug for September sponsored by Northam Hardware. A quality field assembled last Sunday in an attempt to win the Club Champion award or at least win the champion for their grade. As a bonus the winner of the day would also win the monthly mug enabling them to have free drinks for a month. At the end of the day it was Steve Dinka with the best score of a nett 68 to take out the Mug. Runner-up was the unfortunate Peter Richards who missed all 18 birdie attempts, however got a credible score of 69 to take out second prize. Novelties: No. 2 long putt Chadd Hunt; No. 14 nearest the pin Phil Becker.
Club championships: With a Winx-like performance, Daniel Negus was the odds on winner after the second round of the championships and to no ones surprise has taken out the 2017 Club Championship with scores of 72, 71, 72, total 215. Runner-up: Brad Parker - 80, 80, 82, total 242; Third: Matt Woods – 83, 80, 81, total 244; B-grade champion: Les Lee – 87, 99, 86, total 262; C-grade champion: Andrew Quin – 89, 92, 89, total 270.
