Round 17 – Railways vs Cunderdin
THE Railways Football Club finished the final round of the season off with two strong wins on the footy oval and a very close loss on the netball court. With all three teams headed off into the first semi next week, the club is looking at securing their places in the finals.
Railways league side dominated their match with a big win of 19.12 (126) to 9.8 (62). With a timely return of many injured players, the league side is looking strong and good enough to go all the way. Best player went to the always consistent David Grafton with Mitchell Haitia and Agon McCallum rounding out the awards for the day.
The reserves were a united side scoring 14.14 (98) to Cunderdin’s 7.2 (44). The win secured their place in the first semi, with a much anticipated match ahead of them against Quairading next Sunday. Best players were awarded to Jordan Kickett, Ashley Colbung and Harley Corbett.
The Railways Fast Tarts were in strong contention by the third quarter to take out the win against top of the ladder Cunderdin, but missed out in a fast and strong game by both sides, by three points. Top Tart was awarded to Stacey Harrington who continues to shine in every position she plays on the court, and most valuable player went to veteran of the team Kate Swenson for her performance in defence.
The club is extremely proud to be taking all three sides into the finals, and would like to thank all members and sponsors for their continued support throughout the season. Get down to Henry Street oval on August 27 to get behind the teams.
