A group of Perth College boarders visited both Northam Primary School and Wyalkatchem District High School last week.
The year seven and eight boarders led a range of dance and drama workshops for the students.
Perth College communication manager Lauren Underhill said most of the boarders are originally from regional WA.
“This project helps borders transition from living at home to boarding – and helps them give back to the community,” she said. They also performed a drama piece called Home while at the schools.
Ms Underhill said the piece explored the concept of home and helped students dig deeper and understand the meaning of the word, and what it means to them.
The boarders were accompanied by Perth College coordinator of Dramatic Arts, Jane Murray, and creative director Danny Parker who is also a well-known author of picture books.
In one workshop, the students were given creative freedom to explore emotions and worked together to express different moods.
