Avonvale Primary School hosted the annual Cross Country Carnival between local primary schools in the area on Friday.
The schools that took part this year included West Northam Primary School, Toodyay Primary School, St Joseph's School Northam and Avonvale Primary School.
Avonvale Primary School teacher and carnival organised Adam Goodreid said the long distance running event was a great day for students, staff and parents.
“The event was really good this year,” he said. “It ran smoothly and the kids were well behaved.”
He said the parents and spectators created a great atmosphere for the carnival.
Avonvale Primary School year six student Aprile Narrier won the Sportsmanship award on the day.
The award goes to the student that demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and equality. Mr Goodreid said Aprile had a go, even when she wasn’t confident, pushed her way through to the end and was supportive of everyone on the day.
Mr Goodreid said he would like to thank the schools for being involved and the spectators who attended.
