THE third Silver Spoon and second International Bowl, a stoke event, was played on Tuesday, June 13 and sponsored by Cadd’s Surf and Sport. The Judy Beresford putting competition was also fixtured and all three events were strongly challenged. There was another big turnout of ladies and wonderful to see Glenys Leeson and Norma Lawler back on the course enjoying their golf.
Great scores all round where had on the day with Wendy Richards winning with a score of nett 68, runner-up Jan Friend 69 nett. First division: Alison Rowland nett 74; second division: Joy Buckless 72 nett on a three-way countback from Dot Glass and Steph Hubble. Angie Leeson won the putting competition with 27 putts.
Novelties: No. 2 longest putt, Jan Friend; No. 5 best third 0-25, Wendy Richards; No. 14 open nearest the pin, Alison Rowland; No. 18 best third 26-45, Janine Martin.
Next week’s competition on Tuesday, June 20 is a hotly contested stableford event, Captain v Vice Captain competition along with the third Jess Errington competition.
