Wundowie Men's Shed restores wool press

The Wundowie Men’s Shed have restored a weathered Donald’s No. 2 Wool Press, originally used to manually press wool before automatic machines were invented.

The wool press was first released in 1860.

The group was approached by brothers Chris and Paul Antonio, who found the item in their shed.

“We thought it would be a good opportunity to get it restored,” said Chris.

Men’s Shed president Terry Little said they were ready for the challenge.

All 39 men’s shed members helped fix the press in one way or another.

Chris Antonio said he wanted to sincerely thank the men’s shed for all their work.

Mr Little said the Wundowie Men’s Shed are planning on running a session to teach community members how to do things they might not know how to – like change a tyre, check oil and repair a broken draw.

The Wundowie Men’s Shed meet every Tuesday and Friday from 8.30am-3pm.

Mr Little said new members are always welcome.
