Two historical tombstones have been damaged at the Northam Cemetery by a Shire worker during a clean-up.
Shire president Steven Pollard said the shire worker accidently damaged the headstones with a small truck.
“The truck managed to get bogged and unfortunately when he was trying to get it out, it went sideways and knocked over the headstones,” he said.
“It is our fault and we are endeavoring to fix the headstone.”
Mr Pollard said it depends on how badly the stone is damaged, but they will attempt to have the stone put together again.
