The Avon Valley Motorcycle Friendly Region (AVMFR) project was officially launched on Sunday at the 2017 York Motorcycle Festival.
The regions winding roads and magnificent scenery have branded the area ideal for motorcycle tourism.
This project was provided with a $16,180 grant through the Wheatbelt Development Commission’s 2016 Community Chest Fund.
At the festival, AVMFR chairperson Karen Dore took the opportunity to invite everyone involved in the regional collaboration to join her on the stage including Northam shire president Steve Pollard, York chief executive officer Paul Martin and Toodyay chief executive officer Stan Scott.
The outcomes of the venture include:
- Facilitation of an online list featuring over 70 participating venues (eateries, accommodation and attractions);
- Production and installation of 95 branded Avon Valley road signs;
- creation, printing and distribution of 2,500 pocket maps.
