Last Saturday, 13 players were out in dry and dusty conditions to contest the first par event of the year.
Match committee member Gary Balt celebrated his birthday mid week and was hoping for a win to cap off his celebrations. Unfortunately he proved that the saying about “good wine getting better with age” doesn’t apply to golfers.
The club welcomed new member Luke Coen whose previous golf club was Cocos Islands.
At the end of the day, there were several good scores vying for the top prize, none better than the veteran Peter Beazley with a score of plus 6.
Runner-up was Chadd Hunt with plus 5 and third went to birthday boy Gary Balt on a countback from Mike O’Shea both with plus 4.
Novelties: Long putt No. 4 Don Bates; Nearest the pin No. 9 and No. 14, as well as long putt on No. 17 all went to Ollie Griffiths.
Next week’s fixtures: Saturday, April 29 – Stableford sponsored by Spuds Carpentry; Sunday, April 30 – par.
