THE Northam Lawn Tennis Club held the Northam Country Club Trophy Day over the weekend.
There were excellent numbers with beautiful weather and it was a great afternoon. Ladies runner-up went to Kirsten Arthur and Danielle Dodd.
Ladies winner was Kathy North. Men’s runner-up went to Seth Rose whose tennis skills have really improved over the past few weeks. Men’s winner was Luke Edmonds.
Sunday also saw the last day of Sunday social tennis for the season. All players were invited to stay back for a casserole tea and awards.
A special thank you to our patron Hazel McPherson for attending. Congratulations go to Josh McNair who won the Hazel McPherson Award for Most Improved Junior.
Josh’s tennis skills have improved all season. Josh also represented the Northam Club in pennants this season. Club Person of the Year award, sponsored by Dennis and Kathy Saunders, was won by Rob Jamieson. Rob has put many hours into the tennis club over a number of years.
He is involved with the keeping of the courts and is a well-respected club member. He is a quiet achiever when it comes to helping out around the club and his contribution is much appreciated. Congratulations and thank you to Rob.
This sees the end of our tennis season for 2016/17 with the mid week tennis finishing today. Thanks to all who helped throughout the season. We look forward to the 2017/18 season starting in October.
