Wheatbelt Police are celebrating 100 years of women in policing this year by making an online video campaign, that will be released later this month.
The video focuses on seven women in different positions in the Wheatbelt Police District.
One of the women is wheatbelt district officer, inspector Erica Silwood who was the first female officer in charge in the Wheatbelt.
Inspector Silwood said the Wheatbelt is leading the way from a female leadership perspective.
She said there are now four female officers in charge in the Wheatbelt, in Beverley, Bencubbin, Mukinbudin and Wyalkatchem Police Stations, which is more than any other district in Regional WA.
“The Wheatbelt has been fantastic for my career, it has given me the opportunity to progress through the ranks,” inspector Silwood reflected.
“It is such a diverse workload with many opportunities to showcase the great work you and your team does.
“You can actually see the tangible results of your hard work, the difference that is makes in the community and the pride and satisfaction of all officers involved.”
