The Shire of Northam RoadWise Committee and Northam police partnered in a drink driving campaign over the Christmas holiday period from December 23, 2016 to January 8, 2017.

Drivers who blew zero during this period were given a voucher to go in the draw to win an iPad –  or a carwash for second place.

Officers conducted 830 vehicle stops over this campaign, with 1827 drivers subjected to roadside breath tests.

Of these tests, only four drivers had alcohol in their system and only one will be charged with drink driving for having a blood alcohol content over 0.05.

Bev Cukrov from York won the iPad and Northam resident Bevan Penny won the free carwash.

The roadwise committee and Northam police congratulate drivers for not putting themselves and others at risk of an alcohol-related crash.
