The Northam Shire will be holding free events in town to celebrate Australia Day next Thursday, January 26.
There are pool parties being held at Northam and Wundowie Pool from 1-4pm. They will include games, a bouncy castle, competitions and a sausage sizzle. Later in the evening a concert is being held at Bernard Park from 5pm.
The Perth corporate rock band Murphy’s Lore will be playing music at the event. The four member band includes three brothers, two of whom were finalists in Australian Idol.
In addition there will be a small opening for the improved drainage area which is known locally as the swan enclosure at 6pm and will be open to the public from then.
The event will also include children’s rides, face painting, giant bubbles, giveaways and a free sausage sizzle. “There will be lots of community activities happening throughout the Shire of Northam to celebrate Australia Day and I would encourage everyone to come along,” said Shire president Steven Pollard.
