The heritage steam locomotive that is a part of the Northam Cultural Precinct museum and over 100-years-old, was vandalised last week.
Northam Heritage Forum secretary Belle Moore said she found the carriage windows smashed along the length of the train, on Tuesday January 10.
“They have done the full sweep,” said Belle, as she surveyed the damage.
“There is a gate and a fence but that doesn’t stop them.
“It has happened before but it has only been the occasional window, not the full sweep.
“Fortunately they did not start on the building – they just gave this (the train) a hell of a time.”
Belle said they stole a fire extinguisher and also broke a window of neighbouring organisation Avon Valley Vintage Vehicles.
Historical Society vice president Peter Cox said the carriages were brought here from Perth on a steam engine.
“Fortunately we have been able to hang on to them. “Gradually we are hoping to do them up you see...but now this really...it’s going to cost a fortune,” he said.
Belle said the carriage is not insured because the price to insure a heritage built item is too expensive for the organisation.
