Kellerberrin Police and the community officially opened the Kellerberrin Nyoongah Centre on Wednesday, November 23.
The Kellerberrin community has worked together to transform a vacant, old and dilapidated building into a centre for the local Aboriginal community which includes a cooking space and community garden.
The building has been designed as space to offer activities from local support service providers that will offer opportunities for healthy living, social cohesion and personal growth in a safe and friendly environment.
The idea started when sergeant Dave Johnson held a community meeting in September, 2015 where the issues of dysfunction, alcohol abuse and domestic violence were discussed and the idea of a community centre with support services was raised.
