Northam Perth Scorchers Girl’s Competition
CRICKET Australia has put money towards female cricket and the development of girls who want to play the game.
The Northam Cricket Association was one of three country WA associations to win some grant money towards building female cricket in the Wheatbelt region.
For the first time ever we are having a girl’s only cricket competition called the Northam Perth Scorchers Girls Comp.
It is aimed towards girls of ages 12-15 (can have some 16-year-olds) who want to play in teams of seven to nine players per side in a modified game.
All new equipment is provided for the girls to use, so parents aren’t required to spend money on new gear.
The first training was on November 16, then again on the 23rd at 4.30-6pm at the Bert Hawke nets.
We are hoping to start playing games in early December and then continuing again in Term 1 2017, with the grand final to be played on the NCA’s Pink Stumps night on the March long weekend.
For more information please contact the competition coordinator Melinda Lucas on 0481 139 894 or cricket.1951@hotmail.com as we are still looking for a few more numbers for girls who want to give it a go.
