The action-packed Supreme Australian Sheep Dog Championships came to an end on Sunday after an eventful week of trials.
Many events have taken place for the championship including a barbecue on Sunday night and the Northam Shire’s VIP cocktail evening, that was held as a welcome event on Monday October 11.
Shire President Steven Pollard presented a speech on the night, greeting competitors who came from all over Australia and New Zealand to compete in this annual event.
Pip Hudson, NSW, won both the Supreme Novice and Improver this year with Hudson’s Chip.
The Championship was taken out by Malcolm Taylor, Tasmania, working Somerville Nell.
The first four placed in the Interstate Challenge are the 2017 Australian team to compete in NZ next year.
New Zealand won both Trans-Tasman Tests this year with the total score being 587.75 to 463.25 in New Zealand's favour in both tests.
Judge and dog breeder Neil Kristiansen who has represented the state said he looks for good stockmanship and the best dog on the day.
“All the good guys, no matter how bad the sheep are, they make their own luck,” he said.
