FOR the first time since 2007-08 Australian winter crop production is forecast to increase across all States with the total winter crop forecast to rise by 16 per cent to 46.1 million tonnes.
The largest crop by volume in Australia, wheat, is expected to produce 28.1mt, making it the second largest wheat crop on record.
Acting ABARES executive director Peter Gooday said the rise in production was being driven by big gains year-on-year in both WA and Victoria.
A big crop is expected in WA this coming harvest.
