The Northam Show over the weekend was filled with exciting activities, entertainment and events from Walter Whip’s whip cracking lessens to Ivan Solomon’s sheep dog trials.
The Northam Agricultural Society celebrated its long running history of 126 years by recognising the dedicated members that have helped the show become a reality.
Northam Agricultural Society Councillor Fiona Brown was elected a life member on Friday 9, recognising her many years in service.
“I am still a bit overwhelmed, it was kept a big secret. It is a huge honour, I was pretty much born here. My Dad is a life member too,” she said.
This year in the pavilion cooking section a feature was devoted to past Agricultural Society member Meg Lawrence who has now passed on.
Her daughter Christine Watson said her Mother started entering competitions in 1951 and was still exhibiting up until 2010, two years before she passed away.
“Mum was a giving community orientated person and loved the show.”
