THE Shire of York has appointed two new executive managers who, together with the chief executive officer Paul Martin, make up the Shire’s new senior management team.
Following a review undertaken by Mr Martin earlier this year, the Shire agreed to a new organisational structure.
Paul Crewe and Suzie Haslehurst will take up the new roles after a comprehensive recruitment process undertaken by the Shire and the WA Local Government Association.
Mr Crewe will be the executive manager Infrastructure and Development Services.
He has qualifications in engineering and project management and is currently working with the City of Busselton as Major Projects manager.
Prior to this he was the Technical Services manager at the City of Geraldton and has also worked in the Air Force.
Mr Crewe has a wealth of experience in construction and project delivery which is valuable as he will be responsible for all the Shire’s capital projects.
Ms Haslehurst will be the Corporate and Community Services executive manager.
She is currently the Community Development manager at Broome Shire, a role she has held for more than four years.
Prior to this Ms Haslehurst was chief executive officer of Magabala Books, an indigenous publishing house, for more than 10 years.
Ms Haslehurst has a strong background in arts and cultural development in the not-for-profit sector.
She has been the chairwoman of Country Arts WA and national president of Regional Arts Australia.
Her substantial experience in community services, governance and financial management will be put to good use in this role at the Shire of York.
Both executives will take up appointments in October.
They will both be living in the town.
Mr Martin said he was very pleased to be able to attract such high quality candidates to fill these roles.
He said he was looking forward to the Shire getting on with implementing its corporate business plan.
