THE Corolin Cup is a two-day stroke event and one of the major competitions on the Northam Golf Club calendar. Twenty six starters commenced day one focused on the job ahead, 36 holes of stroke lay before them, a blowout on any one hole could result in them falling out of contention.
While the majority of the field ended day one playing above their handicaps, a small group had reveled in the conditions to be in contention at the half-way mark. The best of the group was Brian Gogan who ended up with 76 off the stick to come in with a nett 63, Peter Bray with nett 68 and Geoff Hall and Bob Allert close behind with a nett 70.
Sunday was round two and 21 players were out in a positive frame of mind. While some players continued on with their strong Saturday form others crashed and burned. At the end of the weekend, after 36 gruelling holes, Geoff Hall was declared the winner with scores of 70 and 68, totaling 138 nett . Continued page 23.
