LAST Thursday at noon, police were called to an incident near Cobbler Pool Road, Toodyay, where a Toyota Landcruiser had become stranded in the Avon River.
Information received included a reference to two people being trapped in the vehicle.
Toodyay Police, Wundowie Police, St John Ambulance and Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel attended the scene and located the vehicle stranded in the water.
The river current was fast and the occupants were sitting on the roof of the vehicle.
The driver, a 40 year-old man from Ballajura, was assisted to the shore by the police and emergency crews.
The passenger, a 24 year-old man, was winched to safety from the vehicle by the RAC Rescue Helicopter.
