Bringing regional WA closer is what iconic public transport provider Transwa proudly does.
To coincide with this year’s Avon Descent, Transwa will run two special event train services.
On Friday, August 5, an evening AvonLink service will depart Northam at 10pm, arriving at Toodyay at 10.20pm and then Midland at 11.20pm.
On Sunday, August 7, another special service will operate departing Midland at 9am, arriving at Toodyay at 9.55am and then Northam at 10.20am.
The return service departs Northam at 1.20pm, arriving at Toodyay at 1.40pm and Midland at 2.40pm. Your Transwa ticket can be used on the same day of travel on any Transperth train service.
A one-way fare for an adult to Northam is $20.50 and $10.25 for children and concession card holders. A one-way fare for an adult to Toodyay is $17.50 and $8.75 for children and concession card holders.
Transwa is a division of the state government’s Public Transport Authority.
The public transport provider has been operating under the name of Transwa since 2003, and prior to that was known as Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR).
Transwa operates the AvonLink, Prospector and road coach services throughout the Avon Valley region, connecting with more than 240 destinations within regional Western Australia.
Transwa is the only public transport provider for the Avon Valley region.
The AvonLink service from Northam began in 1995. In 2004, the MerredinLink service was added.
The enhanced AvonLink service operates 28 services between Northam and Midland weekly, and a return service to Merredin each Wednesday.
The service is inclusive of disability access, bathroom facilities and on-train staff. Tickets can be purchased on-board, advanced bookings are not required.
