Mauri ANZ Trophy: March 30

WITH the course improving each day, good weather brought out a large field of 28 golfers to contest the Mauri ANZ trophy a stableford event. Some members believe the strong turn out was the large contingency of Dockers supporters who now have nothing better to do on their weekends. Club captain Brad Parker certainly had a winning frame of mind paring five of the first nine holes, then at the halfway mark looked as if all the early good work may be undone with five shots on No.10 and six shots on No.11. However Parker recovered well with two consecutive birdies on No’s 12 and 13 and finished with pars on the last three holes. Overall a good round with a total of 38 points, Grant Scollay runner up with 37 points, beating George Day on a count back.
