SINGER-SONGWRITER Phil Walley-Stack independently produces his own stage shows.
Walley-Stack grew up in Northam, played football for Federals and a lot of the family and songs he sings have a Northam focus.
He moved to Perth in 2004 to enhance his opportunities.
Since that time he has performed in seven different countries.
This year Walley-Stack performed for Sophia Loren in Melbourne during her visit to Australia and his music recently featured on the runway during New York Fashion Week for designer Maurizio Alpizar’s collection.
Walley-Stack brings his show Strong home to the Astor Theatre on October 9 for one night.
The one-off performance comes off the back of extensive global touring, including Europe, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the US and the Middle East, where he has delighted and captivated audiences.
“I am a firm believer that with culture comes respect,” Walley-Stack said.
He describes the mix of didgeridoo and cello as “healing soothing sounds”.
“I come from a strong Aboriginal family bloodline and regard myself as a carrier of strong cultural ties,” he said.
“Culture is a big part of my identity and learning it, teaching it and sharing it through performance has always been my passion.”
Strong originated in 2011 after the singer saw his first Broadway show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, since then he has worked tirelessly the past four years to develop, perform and refine a stage show he is immensely passionate and proud of.
“My goal is to take Strong to Broadway where it belongs” Walley-Stack said.
He is offering Avon Valley Advocate readers discounted tickets to see his show, for $10 off tickets they can enter promotion code “walleystack” online when buying tickets at: boxoffice.stagetix.com.au/ WEBPAGESEntaWebEvent/EventSeatBlock.aspx.
