MEMBERS of the community are invited to attend a law and order forum at the Bridgeley Community Centre.
It will be held on July 29 from 5.30-7pm.
It follows a similar forum last year in which Police Minister Liza Harvey raised the possibility of an evening time slot for people who could not attend during the day.
Present at this year’s forum will again be Ms Harvey, Member for Central Wheatbelt Mia Davies, MLC Paul Brown and MLC Martin Aldridge.
Ms Harvey will be discussing some of the most recent legislative changes introduced into state parliament regarding home burglaries.
Northam officer-in-charge senior sergeant Mal Ward will also be available to discuss local law and order issues.
Last year’s law and order forum, held during the day, was attended by about 65 people.
At the forum, Northam Police superintendent Peter Halliday revealed burglaries were down 22 per cent and assaults were 7.8 per cent lower from the year before.
Motor vehicle theft had risen 12 per cent in the 12 months, with valuables still being left inside unlocked vehicles.
Northam Police response times for priority-two jobs were nine minutes, 23 seconds on average.
Priority-three jobs on average were 18 minutes 12 seconds and priority four call-outs took an average of an hour and seven minutes.
This year’s forum is billed as an opportunity to discuss the issues important to the community.
