ROBYN Dennis has plenty to sing about.
The young Northam resident’s passion for karaoke has seen her qualify for the Karaoke World Championship state finals.
The final will be held on August 9 in Armadale.
If she is successful, Robyn will then move onto the national championships.
Originally from Melbourne, Robyn moved to Northam five years ago for a change of scenery.
“Singing is a passion definitely, since I was little,” she said.
“I haven’t ever competed against other people – this is the first time I have gone in a competition.”
The song she performed to gain entry into the state final was (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin.
“Not being nervous is the key,” she said.
“Just get up and be confident –sing like you are singing at home.”
Speaking on the key to success, Robyn said judges looked at the way performers presented themselves.
And making the song your own is integral, she said.
“I am up for singing anything,” she said.
“Every couple of weeks I will perform karaoke and I sing every day at home.”
Robyn’s karaoke passion has also seen her write her own music.
“I am trying to find the right song for the final,” she said.
“My family and friends are overly happy with my success – they are an awesome support.”
