NORTHAM Police are investigating a crash which occurred in Wundowie on Saturday which resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man.
About 7.30pm, a white Chevrolet utility was travelling west on Werribee Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the road and colliding with a tree.
The driver, from Wooroloo, received life threatening injuries in the crash and died at the scene.
Northam Police officer-in-charge Kevin Madden said police were still not sure of the cause of the single vehicle crash.
“All of these incidents I have seen have been avoidable,” Sergeant Madden said.
“I think the safety messages are getting through but it just takes that one moment to lapse.
“We are telling drivers to stay focused for the whole trip.”

Speaking about the crime situation in Northam, Sgt Madden said there were no reported burglaries over the weekend.
“We did have small stealings from cars, with items such as golf clubs and tool set,” Sergeant Madden said.
“People are still making themselves an easy target.”
Sergeant Madden said Northam Police also ran a major drug testing operation last week to much success.
Thirty-seven drivers were tested, with 16 positives for methamphetamine.
Some drivers also tested positive for cannabis.
Seven drivers were caught driving without a licence, four drivers were in possession of drugs and one was found with a weapon.
“There have been no major assaults or incidents, but we will definitely have to have a closer look at traffic,” Sergeant Madden said.
