AN Avon Junior Football League team made up of players from Toodyay, York and Northam Barons and Saints teams travelled to Watheroo on June 6.
At the completion of the day after playing one game against each of the teams from Mortlock, East Avon, Central Midlands Coastal and North Midlands, the AJFL remained unbeaten bringing up a repeat of last year’s carnival result.
Their first game against Mortlock had final scores 46 points to 18.
Next game saw the AJFL run out comfortable winners 34 points to North Midlands’ one point.
The game against Central Midlands Coastal was by way the toughest opposition of the day but the AJFL held off a strong challenge to record a 30 point to 13 point victory.
The last game against East Avon had the AJFL jumping out from the commencement recording a solid 50 point to 12 point win.
It was a tremendous team effort and a sign of maturity from a team that trained together only twice before the day and come from teams that compete on Saturday mornings against each another.
James Sarre was named AJFL player of the carnival though there were many other good individual performances.
Congratulation are extended to Bailey O’Driscoll who has been selected in the state 12s that will be competing in a carnival in Geelong
